Liverpool Life Sciences UTC has been awarded two Educate Awards at a recent ceremony held by Educate magazine.
The school and sixth form college were double award-winners at the ceremony held at the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool, picking up the ‘Career Aspiration Award – sponsored by GMLPF’ and the award for ‘Science Project of the Year – sponsored by Liverpool John Moores University’.
The award for Science Project of the Year was awarded to the UTC for their development of a simple, school friendly and inexpensive model for understanding phenomena such as morphology, anatomy, development and behaviour through to contemporary genomics and molecular biology.
Life Sciences UTC were awarded the Careers Aspiration Award for their approach to transforming the experience of careers education for its students. The launch of an innovative programme, Build My Future, has helped students to identify opportunities, make decisions, build employability skills and contacts through extensive employer engagement opportunities and market themselves successfully. The role of the UTC is to bridge the gap between where students are and where they want to be. On graduation, students are promised an apprenticeship, an employment opportunity or a university place.
As the first school in the UK to specialise in Science and Health Care for 14 to 19 year olds, Liverpool Life Sciences UTC reaches out locally and nationally to members of the scientific community to provide its students with vocational education pathways.
