In our Heath Suite, students are able to use our SimMan ,  a sophisticated medical simulation system renowned for its ability to mimic complex medical scenarios.  Able to represent diverse simulated patients, lifelike articulation facilitating realistic patient manipulation, and advanced technology  incorporating real clinical instruments for an immersive learning experience.

The Liverpool Life Sciences UTC MeDeVet Programme offers focussed work experience across medical, dentistry and veterinary careers.

Our placement partners include Liverpool University Hospital Trust, local veterinary practices, and dental surgeries across Liverpool. The experience gained on placement will prove invaluable when making a successful application university, apprenticeship, or employment.

Students will partake in stretch and challenge workshops, hear from guest speakers and meet doctors and professionals from local Medical Schools including (amongst others) Edge Hill University, the University of Central Lancashire, University of Liverpool and the University of Lancaster. They also take part in a range of high-level projects in our industry standard labs and clinical simulation suite in order to develop a range of relevant technical and transferrable skills.

What to expect from the MeDeVet Programme?


  • Choose three A Levels to include Biology and Chemistry, a typical third choice is Maths or Psychology.


  • 33% extra contact time compared to other local providers. This will give you the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills at A Level supported by your teachers.

  • A 10 week UCAT exam preparation course.


  • Personal statement writing support.


  • Opportunity to carry out an Extended Project Qualification in our industry standard labs focused on Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Science. Some Universities will offer a reduced grade entry based on a good EPQ grade.


  • A wealth of guest speakers, trip and visits.


  • Extensive link with local universities and health care providers.


  • Opportunity to participate in work experience in association with Liverpool University Hospital Trust and dental and vet practices across Liverpool.

What is the UCAT?

The University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) is an admissions test that is designed to help Medical & Dental Schools differentiate between candidates, by testing their aptitude, attitude, decision making and professionalism to cope in a career in Medicine or Dentistry. It is an exam for aspiring doctors and dentists of tomorrow.
