It’s been a fantastic week at school, with students seizing opportunities to learn and shine. Highlights include Ignite’s STEM Taster Day at the University of Liverpool, where students explored robotics, Ancient Egyptian diets, and science experiments, and Year 10’s CPR session, equipping them with vital life-saving skills. Year 13 student Cerys secured a prestigious work experience day at global law firm Taylor Wessing, while Year 10’s John Wong impressed with outstanding engineering design work. Our amazing student ambassadors gave inspiring tours to prospective families, and Year 11 embraced professionalism during their Sixth Form Pathway Taster Day, living our ethos, “Every Day is an Interview.”

Mobile Phone Policy - Update
We are officially one week into our no-phone rule, and it's safe to say it's a success! Our students were previously allowed their phones around the building during break and lunch times, but we found they were constantly bombarded by notifications and apps that demanded their screen time. We have already seen students repurposing their time to read books, play chess, play card games and engage with their colleagues. We hope this shift to no phones continues to enhance our students' concentration during lessons and increase their overall well-being. For more information on this shift, read our new phone policy here.

Sickness procedure
From a safeguarding perspective, students who indicate they are feeling unwell will not be sent out of class as an unwell/injured student unaided may faint on the stairs or corridor. Staff will call first aid and first aid will go to the student. Students are not to contact home themselves when they are unwell, staff will call parents if needed.

Year 11 Sixth Form Pathway Taster Day
Our Year 11 Sixth Form Pathway Taster Day kicked off with a strong sense of professionalism, as our smartly dressed students embraced our school ethos, "Every Day is an Interview." This reflection set the tone for the day, emphasising the importance of presenting oneself with confidence, responsibility, and pride in all situations.

Uniform and equipment reminder
I would like to remind parents of the uniform standards with regard to girl’s trousers. A small number of students are wearing fashion trousers – made of Lycra material and flared leggings in style. The expectation is for students to wear school trousers or a pleated skirt. As the weather is getting colder please ensure your child has a warm, waterproof coat. All students are required to have a school bag with them every day. This must be large enough to carry a number of A4 revision guides. We will provide your child with a suitable bag if they are unable to obtain one.
Jill Davies, Principal at Life Sciences and The Studio School.
