Another busy week at the CUC. We are definitely feeling more settled and finding our way around the routines and building. Students have enjoyed some new challenges and we have launched some new initiatives to prepare students for the world of work and the jobs of tomorrow.

Work Experience at Beverston Engineering
During the summer holiday, Pawel, one of our talented Year 13 students at Liverpool Life Sciences UTC, had the exciting opportunity to spend a week gaining hands-on work experience with our valued partner, Beverston Engineering, in Knowsley. Keep reading to hear from Pawel first-hand. “At Beverston Engineering I was placed around various places within the process including manufacturing, packing, quality assurance, material management and office/ manufacturing preparation."
|
|
"I learnt how the whole manufacturing process goes from start to finish, including how the material is cut and prepared, how CNC machines are set up and adjusted to ensure accuracy, and how manufacturing drawings are prepared for the machinists on the floor."
"Knowing how the process works and how accuracy is ensured in these high precision manufacturing processes has helped me to prepare for future jobs with an understanding of how the whole process works and thus how everyone's role in a process links into other's jobs. It has helped me to consider more jobs in the process as I have seen how interesting each one can be.”

Ignite STEAM Sessions
This week, Ignite made a start on STEAM. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. By focusing on creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving, STEAM encourages students to explore real-world challenges through projects. This builds skills and fosters innovation, preparing students for careers in a rapidly evolving world. Our schools are proud to embrace STEAM, offering students engaging opportunities to connect their learning across these dynamic fields.

Job of the Week
As part of our new careers communication strategy, we are now working with MYPATH to provide short Job Of The Week video’s that resonate with our young people’s digital DNA.
Click here for Job Of The Week 1
The ‘BE MORE’ website is a great locally produced resource that helps us to show that we as a whole school are reacting to the needs of the local economy and exposing students to local growth sectors, skills shortages and jobs for the future.

Sickness procedure
From a safeguarding perspective, students who indicate they are feeling unwell will not be sent out of class as an unwell/injured student unaided may faint on the stairs or corridor. Staff will call first aid and first aid will go to the student. Students are not to contact home themselves when they are unwell, staff will call parents if needed.
