
Our Liverpool Life Sciences students continue to consistently achieve the highest grades, with another good year of A level results.BTEC courses, 60% scored a Triple D*/ Triple D in Applied Sciences, 57% received a Distinction* in Engineering and 59% of Health students were awarded a Triple D*/ Triple D. Additional A Level languages students also performed incredibly well, with 100% awarded an A* – C grade; 70% of Social Sciences were awarded an A* – C, while 71% of Physics students also scored A* – C results.
“We’ve seen a real rise this year in degree apprentices, which is exciting,” Principal Jill Davies says. “Young people are sticking with our specialisms, which is lovely to see. This year, 28% of UTC students received straight As or a triple D*, which is incredible.” They now go on to an exciting range of destinations…
Selma El Benni won the Business of Science Innovation Award at the end of Year 12 and is now heading to the University of Paris to study Dentistry. She was awarded IRIS Young Researcher of the Year at an awards ceremony at the Crick Institute in London at the start of Year 13 and completed an outstanding EPQ project where she explored the potential of DNA nanotechnology in dentistry and designed and built a digital prototype for a DNA nanostructure that could help to regenerate tooth enamel. She received Bs in Biology, Maths and Chemistry to take up her offer in Paris.
Sian Johnson is heading to Manchester Metropolitan University, where he will study Chemistry as part of a Degree Apprenticeship with United Utilities.
On the Health and Social Care pathway (BTEC Health and Social Care (Health Sciences Pathway) Level 3), all of our students have been outstanding at completing their coursework and on their professional placements and some have been signed off with the Care Certificate on their NHS Cadet programme. Now, Benedith Osarobo is headingn to Keele University to study Midwifery, having scored the highest possible marks – D*D*D*; Ava West (D*D*D) is heading to Edge Hill University to study Psychology and Esther Kwilu (DDD) will start a Midwifery degree at Edge Hill University.
In Applied Sciences, Grace Bello joined us in Y11 and has just received D*D*D* in her results. Grace moved to us from Nigeria, and completed her GCSEs in a year, followed by her Applied Sciences course. Now, she’s accepted a place at Plymouth University to study medicine.
Maab Ewad also received D*D*D* and will now head to the University of Leeds to study Cardiac Physiology. We’re very proud of all of this year’s students, the results they’ve achieved and the hard work put in behind the scenes.
